If you love fresh, naturally fermented sourdough, there’s a local bakery in Laconia, New Hampshire worth knowing about: Chasing Birds Bread.

Located in the heart of the Lakes Region, Chasing Birds Bread has been serving the community for nearly 10 years. I recently had the opportunity to photograph Jada and capture the heart of her business through a branding photography session.

Behind the Scenes at Chasing Birds Bread

One of my favorite parts of branding photography is getting to document the process behind a small business. For Chasing Birds Bread, that meant photographing Jada at work, from the early stages of preparing her sourdough to the finished loaves.

We captured the hands-on process of working with the dough, the bakery environment, and the details that make each loaf unique. These images give customers a glimpse into the care and craftsmanship that goes into creating her sourdough.

Branding photography is about so much more than getting a few professional headshots. It is about telling the story of a business and giving potential customers a chance to connect with the person behind the brand.

And if you have a sweet tooth, be sure to look for her cinnamon buns, available with either regular or maple frosting.

More Than Just Sourdough

One of the things that makes Chasing Birds Bread special is the community surrounding the business. Along with her sourdough, Jada creates opportunities for other local Lakes Region artists and artisans through vendor pop-ups.

Her business is a great example of how small businesses can become part of the fabric of a local community, supporting not only their customers but other makers and entrepreneurs as well.

Working with local businesses like Chasing Birds Bread is one of my favorite parts of being a photographer in the Lakes Region. Every business has its own story, and branding photography gives you the opportunity to show that story in a way that feels authentic to you.

For this session, we photographed Jada, her bakery, her work, and her products to create a collection of images she can use throughout her website, social media, and marketing.
